Panasonic's popular Eneloop rechargeable batteries are showing their “LoveLove” for the late Walt Disney.
Officially approved, limited edition battery designs in red, white and black honor the award-winning animation pioneer by celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth.
Walt Disney, co-founder of Walt Disney Productions and winner of nearly two dozen Academy Awards (plus four honorary Oscars), was born on December 5th, 1901.
A number of product promotions and associated celebratory events are planned for the official Walt Disney 110th Anniversary year which began in December of 2011.
Panasonic is one of the corporations participating in the Disney “If you can dream it, you can do it” celebration and for a limited time, the company's popular Eneloop rechargeable batteries are wearing Disney colors on their sleeves.
Eneloop batteries were developed by Sanyo Electric, founded in 1947 and now a subsidiary of Panasonic Corporation.
The rechargeable NiMH batteries were introduced in November of 2005 and gained notice mainly for the fact that they're sold fully charged.
This is possible because Eneloop batteries lose their charge slower than other types of NiMH batteries; they're able to hold 90% of their charge after one year, 80% after 3 years and 70% after five years.
The newest iteration of Eneloop batteries introduced in October of 2011 can be recharged up to 1,800 times, an improvement over the previous series' recommended 1,500 time rating.
